hi there :)

I’m getting on a jet plane…

Today I’m going to India.

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! EEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPP!

I keep telling myself over and over that I am excited. And I am. I’m just so nervous my belly thinks it’s in a Bollywood movie.

I’m going to an Orphange that my family have had links with for years now. I went 3 years ago (all these photos are from that trip) and now I’m going back!!

I always knew I wanted to go back (I wrote so in my travel journal, so I even have it in writing!). When you go somewhere like that, you leave part of your heart there, so to speak. I can’t wait to see them all again, to make myself useful to Dr Ila (the AMAZING lady who runs the Orphanage) and to be a part of the culture again.

But at the moment I feel like I’m gonna chunder. Everywah.

Wish me luck!

I don’t get it…

Why oh why oh why oh why oh why? I mean, why would you even bother? Does no one have any decency anymore?

I am fed up with all these pictures of semi naked, sexually positioned couples all over my tumblr dashboard!

Arms, legs, boxers, bras, kisses.

Why reblog that?

Firstly, I assume they’re not pictures of you, you’d quite like your privacy. So why deny it to someone else?

Secondly, if they are pictures of you, that’s kind of, er, wierd.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought blogging was for thought. Opinion.

Not for the sharing intimate photos?!

A Wasted Invention.

You know what people don’t wear enough of these days?

(Other then cleavage-covering tops and jeans that cover boxers)

Nightcaps.

No, I’m not talking about a bit of scotch before bed, (though whatever floats your boat). I mean the head wear.

Considering how it seems that each winter is colder then the last, I’m surprised that the nightcap hasn’t made a come-back, much like leggings, headscarves and neon in the roundabout that is fashion.

I surely can’t be the only one in need of a nightcap?! I seem to be incapable of sleeping with something completely covering my head (either due to claustrophobia or running out of air), but having my head outside of my duvet gives me nightmares of the arctic and blizzards.

So I always seem to end up (whilst half asleep) trying to orchestrating some form of tent to try and ensure my head is under wraps but my mouth is in the open. But this never works as I roll over and either get strangled as my tent becomes a noose or I become completely exposed to the arctic conditions of my bedroom.

So I motion to bring back the humble nightcap. So my head and ears can stay warm, and I can still breathe.

Unfortunately the closest thing I have that resembles a nightcap is my Santa hat.

Which flashes different colours and has a weighted bauble on the end. Hardly condusive to a good nights sleep.

Yet, I may be in luck. Grandad collars, cotton mid-calf socks and chunky knitted cardigans are all popular again.

So maybe the nightcap is next to feature in Vogue?!

Fingers crossed!

Ginger Snaps: My prophesy for 2011

gingersnapsblogger:

A dark day is coming.

Yes it is true that we are on the eve of the first England Ashes win on Australian soil since 1987. It is true that the manner in which England has dominated our opponent in all aspects of the game has been a delight for sore English eyes and is a sign of the real…

2010

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?

  • Went on a plane by myself, it was full of faaaar too much drama
  • Went to a concert without someone older than me :)
  • Voted
  • Completed a video game (zelda: twilight princess)

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don’t think I made a new years resolution last year, or if I did, I can’t remember it. This year I think I’d like to make use of my gym membership more. :S

3. What countries did you visit?

Canada. Best time of my life, best time of my life.

4. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Working on the Black Ops Launch. I was so nervous before it I don’t think I ate for two days! But I really enjoyed it and learnt ALOT.

5. What was your biggest failure?

I think, looking back (damn hindsight), I should have not been so wrapped up in myself at the beginning of the year. I could have noticed some of the things that were going on around me, and maybe have been more of a help to some of my friends.

6. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nope, not really. My mum had a bad riding accident which was very hard, but she’s doing really well.

7. What was the best thing you bought?

Hmmmm. I have a bit of a thing about shopping. I buy alot! I’d love to say my new phone, but it keeps giving me grief ¬_¬ I’ll probably say my KT Tunstall ticket. Was such a good gig!

8. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My Mum. Her strength and determination after her accident amazes me.

9. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

I think it’s more disappointment rather then depressed. I just wish they knew how much they are worth.

10. Where did most of your money go?

Clothes. Shoes. Slurpees.

11. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going to Canada. AND it was better then I imagined :)

12. What song will always remind you of 2010?

Soul Sister, Train

13. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Dancing.

14. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Worrying.

15. Did you fall in love in 2010?

Nope. Thank goodness. I’ve enough drama to deal with atm!

16. What was your favourite TV program?

Spooks :)

17. What was the best book you read?

Before I Forget by Melissa Hall. Lead male character was called Finn. Nuff said :)

18. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Oh my. The Temper Trap. Mumford and Sons. Ed Sheeran. Swedish House Mafia.

19. What did you want and get?

I wanted to be calmer and happier. I got it :)

20. What was your favourite film of this year?

AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 18 and I had a party :)

22. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Not worrying so much about everything.

23. What kept you sane?

My friends.

24. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ed Westwick. Mmmmmmmm.

25. Who did you miss?

My friends when they went to Uni. Gap Yah didn’t seem like such a good idea for a while.

26. Who was the best new person you met?

Everyone I met in Winnipeg. Nicest people ever.

27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

Don’t dwell so much on the past. Keep looking forward.

28. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Optomistic but never quite elegant. Still a wierdo. Still a wierdo. After all these years. :)

A Protest Against the Student Protests

What I dislike most about these student strikes is the fact that suddenly young people have an interest in politics.

Huh? Surely this is a good thing?

No. The emphasis is on the word suddenly. Without any political knowledge or foundation and only the words of the Daily Mail to go on, is it any surprise that instead of a debate or peaceful demonstration we get a violent brawl?

What’s disappointing is that it’s probably what the government expected. After all, all young people are hooligans, yobs, who carry knives and express themselves in violent behaviour.

Way to prove them right guys.

Yes Nick Clegg promised that he wouldn’t let this happen. Big Whoop. Anyone in their right mind would have realised that this was an impossible commitment. Maybe if these students had had an interest in the way their country in run before the government voted to increase student fees, they would have realised that.

Yes it’s going to be harder for most to get a degree, but I think there is something very honourable in saving for something that will be life changing. Hopefully it might also bring back some of the lost credibility of a degree; that they will be taken more seriously, be more valued, and bring an even greater sense of pride and accomplishment.

But whatever your view is. Please don’t base it on what-you-heard-from-so-and-so or this-is-what-the-headline-said.

Be better then that.
